Our product is an app-based solution that lets immigrants send money back home to emerging markets instantly and at very low prices. The Role

Fresh off a fundraise, we are hiring an operations pro to help scale our payments team -- someone comfortable with a mix of external relationship-building, daily service management (monitoring performance including downtime, speed, and customer satisfaction; troubleshooting cases with customer service; and escalating technical issues), and daily funding duties (foreign exchange trades and currency management, wire transfers, and cash tracking). As Taptap scales from seven recipient markets to a dozen and beyond, you’ll run point on day-to-day service and payment operations, working on these tasks with a range of vendors and partners -- from banks to telcos to growing fintech players -- across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.

You’ll master fast-paced coordination of the array of tools and services necessary to keep Taptap running 24/7 and processing millions of dollars a day for customers across Europe. You’ll develop relationships with key partners, troubleshoot operational issues as they occur, and put funding processes in place for new market launches. You’ll be a Rolodex for all things Taptap and ensure our service runs smoothly and efficiently as we continue to expand. 

You have a passion for emerging markets, financial inclusion, and the impact of technology on both, and you’re excited at the prospect of traveling to the countries we serve. You’re as comfortable on the phone in multiple languages as you are in a spreadsheet. You have grit and a “no task too small” mentality.

Your responsibilites will include

  • Daily business operations -- you’ll manage the key processes for keeping our service running 24/7, coordinating our banks, pay-out partners, payment processors, and key vendors to ensure consistent operational excellence and to troubleshoot issues as they occur. You’ll maintain regular contact with our account representatives, handle internal and external escalations, and closely track performance 
  • Funding and payment operations --  you’ll handle our daily bank wires and settlement across multiple markets in the EU, Africa, and Asia, implement foreign exchange strategy (trading and balancing currencies), and build new funding processes as we expand into additional markets in Africa, Asia, and beyond
  • Relationship building and maintenance -- you’ll spend much of your day speaking to partners across our markets, maintaining and building on the partnerships that power our service and making sure you always know who to contact for any operational issue Taptap faces.  You’ll travel to our partners on a regular basis to build strong relationships and work through any issues


You enjoy challenges and you love working in teams and building relationships with key stakeholders. You don’t hesitate to place a call to ensure important issues get resolved promptly or leave your comfort zone for a negotiation or research. You are enthusiastic about working within the fast-paced environment of a rapidly growing startup.

  • 2+ years of operations or account management experience in a fast-paced environment (consulting, start-up, finance/banking)
  • Ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities
  • Exemplary people and stakeholder management skills
  • ‘No task too small’ mentality and willingness to pound the pavement and knock on doors to accomplish your goals
  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English; working proficiency in French required; other languages a plus
  • Right to work in the UK or Belgium
  • Preferred -- experience in payment or treasury operations at a bank, fintech, remittance company, FX company, MNO, etc.
